Oyster takes time to harvest pearl just as Pinctada Margaritifera and Pinctada Maxima oysters often take four years to produce pearls. Oyster can be harvested for second and third time. Oyster that harvest shining and balance shape pearl will be grafted again for securing good quality pearls. The size of the pearls increase in every next generation. The best quality pearls usually harvested in cold periods because in this period Oyster secrete thinner layers of aragonite that is nacreous mineral. In this way the luster of the pearls enhanced. The harvesting period differ because of farms, water temperature and physical condition of the Oyster.
The removal of Pearl from the Oyster does not harm and new nucleus is inserted and in this way Oyster grow another pearl from the same Oyster. The development of pearl in Oyster is interesting and in seas the Oyster swallow tiny sand particle and then secrete thinner layers of aragonite on that tiny sand. The process takes about four and half years. Once the pearl is developed enough then it is removed surgically from the Oyster without hurting it. In this way new nucleus or sand is inserted for next pearl harvesting. The quality of the pearls varies because of quality of water, temperature and required energy.
