She is also the president of the Texas Jewelers Association.
The design competition was held at the end of last year during the annual convention in Dallas, timed to coincide with the Select jewelry show.
The contest was open to members of the Texas Jewelers Association, employees of TJA members, and college or university students specializing in jewelry design.
However, all products had to have an original design and be manufactured within a year before the exhibition.
But, the awards honored creative use of materials, craftsmanship, wearability, originality, design and fashion.
The judges included Melanie Bernal of Malakan Jewelry and Debbie Meeks of Bermuda Gold Jewelry.
Gold and carat jeweler Jim Rogers also received the award, taking first place in the 2021 Bench Jewelers Exclusive competition.
So, the award is presented to the jeweler who works on a piece from conception to final polishing.
